As a St. Petersburg FIR controller I'd like to inform the pilots about some differences in IFR clearance request. It's written at the page available via link above, but I'd like to clarify that.

Since recent time you don't have to ask for "IFR clearance" in VATRUS except at airports having "Delivery" position in real world (afaik it's Domodedovo (UUDD) only). Now on initial contact you must request for push&start. So the initial contact looks like this:

Pulkovo Ground, Lufthansa 3114, stand #64 with information Hotel, IFR to Frankfurt, request push and start
Lufthansa 3114, Pulkovo Ground, squawk 5723, cleared via LKO1A departure, push and start approved
Lufthansa 3114, squawk 5723, LKO1A departure, push and start approved

Sure, you may request for radio check :D Generally the active runway can be obtained from Ground controller's info (text ATIS, maybe we'll have voice ATIS, this depends on traffic load). Otherwise you will be issued active runway with the standard departure.

After takeoff you're cleared to climb to flight level 1500 meters (FL049 feet) via issued SID if nothing else is advised by Tower controller. Remember that you must contact Pulkovo Radar controller before crossing height 450 meters, usually it's done when crossing height 200 meters.

Also most likely you will have radar vectors on arrival. Just follow all the controller's headings and heights and do not intercept the localizer until "cleared ILS approach" :D

Actually I do not think German-speaking pilots will have such troubles - I provide ATC in ULLL frequently and your pilots are one of the greatest ones of Europe flying in Russia with its metric system and QFE pressure.

Hallo!

First of all I'd like to say "Vielen Dank!" to all the pilots who participated in our event, to their high quality of flying and communication. It was absolutely fascinating in spite of some troubles with electricity of the Approach controller. Here are some screenshots.

According to ServInfo at 1500z the German delegation was one of the first to arrive to Pulkovo:


And here how it looked on the radar. Air Berlin 484, squawk 5601... Lufthansa 611, squawk ident... Air Berlin 484, identified, descend to FL 4500 by LENGA... UPS 1124, squawk 5602... Lufthansa 611, identified, descend to FL 9100... something like this, almost non-stop, your tight queue has made me a bit nervous, honestly

Hello,

thank you very much for the nice event
Because of my long downwind (~160km and 160km back) I landed with circa 3% of fuel, I expected an engine failure every secod - a very interesting experience.
But well done to all the controllers and thanks again!
