Hello fellow simmers and controllers.

As being controller in Bosnia and Herzegovina, I would like to invite all of you on behalf of vACCBiH to a group flight to Sarajevo International Airport LQSA in the heart of Bosnia and Herzegovina. You will be facing one of Europe’s most beautiful, interesting and never the less difficult approaches, as there is high terrain in all quadrants.

The airport is located in a valley on 1708ft surrounded by mountains four time that altitude and has a single 12/30 - 2600x45 m runway with CAT I ILS12 surrounded by very close settlements (Sarajevo suburbs) on 3 sides and hill on the fourth:


95% of the time is ILS runway 12 in use for arrivals and 30 for departures due to the terrain, meaning a great challenge for us controllers at Sarajevo when heavy traffic occurs. In daylight VMC can circle to land runway 30 be provided and the same with take off runway 12, but that is only for the most skilled pilots, as your finals runway 30 is less than a mile and departure runway 12 results in a sharp left turn and high gradient climb.
