Standard Altimeter setting QnH only

Greetings to all,
Please excuse me that I do not speak or write German, only English and Spanish.
I enjoy vasFMC (gauge version) for the PA Airbus, but cannot seem to find where I can set the Altimeter in Inches of mercury (inHg) as us silly Americans still use that system instead of hectopascals (hPa). I understand I could convert, but I am not that quick to do it in my head and was hoping it was a setting which can be configured in vasFMC.

Many thanks in advance,
Jeffrey S. Bryner

Hi Jeffrey,
unfortunately I don't have the PA Airbus, so I cannot help solving your problem in detail.

But here is a conversion table for inch <> hPA: Link
or use this converter: Link

Hope I could help u a bit ^^

Hi Jeff,

I hope we are talking about the same panel. I am using the PA Panel in connection with the vasFMC Gauge as well and switching from inHg to hPa is pretty straight forward: on the panel have a look for the pressure window and its dial on the Mode Control Panel (or whatever Airbus calls it). On top of the dial, you can see the inscriptions "inHg" and "hPa". Just click on either of them with your mouse pointer and you should be done. Have a look at the attached screenshot.

The center part (with AP/ATHR control) is the Flight Control Unit and the two additions for each pilot are called EFIS control panel.

@Andi: MCP is correct for the Worldflight.

Greetings Andreas,
Thank you for the kind consideration of your reply. That will certainly solve my problem. I can switch the ALT setting to inHg, enter my setting, switch it back to hPa and enter the value displayed into the MCDU. Thank you.

I did, however, want to make sure I cleared up what I was describing in my initial post as I was not clear. The question was related to the APPR (PERF APPROACH) page on the MCDU. In the upper left you will see the label "DEST QNH" and with the LLSK1 you enter the value in hPa. However, thanks to Andreas' answer, I have a way to put the proper QNH value in by letting the Altimeter on the EFIS do the conversion.

Thanks Again to all,
Jeffrey S. Bryner

Hello Jeffrey,

I'm not at my FSX PC at the moment, maybe I can try it today in the evening.

But if I remember well, the MCDU should accept an input in inHg units as well as in hPa units on the PERF APPR page.

So if you enter "1013", it would consider that as hPa. But if you enter "2991", it would (very reasonable) consider that as inHg. If "2991" is not accepted, then try "29.91".

Well I don't know how the vasFMC behaves on that page, but IIRC the real Airbus switches the unit on the PERF page together with the selection on the EFIS control panel.

I just tested it and it is indeed impossible to enter anything else but the QNH in hPa into the PERF-dialogue! I tried "2980" and "29.80", but no joy.

A follow-up to all who replied on this post;
Again, a sincere 'thank you' for all the thoughtful replies. VATSIM Germany seems to be a group of enthusiastic, knowledgeable and responsive individuals. It is indeed true that the best support for vasFMC is here at VATSIM Germany. I certainly have a few other questions about this great addon, vasFMC, and will be posting them in hopes of again benefitting from the collective knowledge of the people in this forum.

All the best,
Jeffrey S. Bryner
