| TO: Virtual Airline CEO’s FR: Robert Phillips V.P. Special Operations, VATSIM RE: Possible Vacancies I am currently researching new strategies and opportunities that may include realignment / creation of staff positions (technical and managerial / public relations) within Special Operations that are aimed at improving services to VA PARTNERS, specifically, virtual airlines affiliated with VATSIM. I am seeking 2-3 highly motivated persons with a “can do” attitude that can work in a team environment to improve VATSIM’s service to its VA Partners. Requirements: Candidates shall have: 1. verifiable virtual airline management experience, 2. have in-depth knowledge of virtual airline operations, and 3. have verifiable background and experience in the field for the position they wish to fill (technical or managerial / public relations). Persons interested in a tech related position, shall have additional knowledge of virtual airline related software such as ACARS, etc. knowledge of HTML, PHP, database creation and management, and related topics. There is no specific VATSIM rating required to apply. Possible duties: Applicants may be responsible for public relations duties, consulting virtual airlines on both managerial and technical issues, managing special projects, screening new VA organizations, and advise on develop/design of web based applications specific to virtual airline operations. If you are interested in being considered for such a position with VATSIM Special Operations, I invite you to submit a letter of application to my office via robertp@vatsim.net no later than 31-MAY-06. Thank you, _________________ Robert Phillips V.P. Special Operations VATGOV9 robertp@vatsim.net ----- Und noch einige Erklärungen dazu: ----- Just wanted to add a few things: In recent months it has become abundantly clear that there is a disconnect between VATSIM and the VA world. We have been concentrated more on the actual network and software than the users. With this in mind I have directed VATSIM staff to start researching and implementing VA friendly features that will help not only the large established VA's, but also the start-up VA's. One of the things VATSIM can do is make better use of statistical data. As Rob mentioned above, we will be issuing a NOTAM shortly with various openings available within a BOG project. The primary position will be for a VA Technical Advisor (developer). This person, in addition to what Rob stated, will be responsible for developing various VA accessible data interfaces to the VATSIM STATS and CERT servers. This individual(s) will need to have demonstrated knowledge of MS SQL, MySQL, XML, php, and asp. Knowledge of syndication methods such as RSS and XML will also be needed for pushing VA events to the new VATSIM site. (Yes Luke it is about that) We (VATSIM) collect a ton of data about what happens online and having it sitting around on disk doing nothing other than letting Joe user look-up how many hours he had last month, is a waste of resources and time. Therefore, we are going to leverage that data and make it an integral part of flying online with VATSIM. It is our intention to make VATSIM the online network of choice for all VA's. _________________ Richard Jenkins - VATSIM President |
